Container Delivery in Idaho

How we deliver shipping containers throughout Idaho and the Northwest — what it costs, how it works, and how to get your site ready.

How Container Delivery Works

When you buy a shipping container, it has to get from the depot to your property. That's the part most companies are vague about — but it's often a significant chunk of the total cost, especially in Idaho where we're inland from the major port cities.

We deliver containers using a tilt-bed trailer — the container rides on the flatbed and slides off the back directly onto the ground at your location. No crane needed, no heavy equipment rental. The trailer tilts and the container slides into place. It's the most common delivery method for ground-level placement and the most cost-effective for residential and rural properties.

What Does Delivery Cost?

Delivery cost is based on distance from the container depot to your location. Most containers serving Idaho ship from Salt Lake City, which is the closest major depot hub. Here's what delivery typically costs to common Idaho destinations.

We Haul Our Own Containers

Unlike most brokers who contract delivery out to third parties, we haul many of our Idaho deliveries ourselves using our own RAM gooseneck tilt-bed trailer. That means we can often beat third-party quotes, and we have direct control over the delivery experience — including placing the container exactly where you want it.

How to Prepare Your Delivery Site

Getting a container delivered is straightforward, but a little site prep goes a long way. Here's what to have ready before delivery day.

Level ground. The container needs to sit on a flat, firm surface. Gravel, compacted dirt, concrete, or asphalt all work. Soft, muddy, or sloped ground can cause problems — the container may settle unevenly or the delivery truck can get stuck.
Clear access path. The delivery truck and trailer is about 65–70 feet long and needs a straight run to slide the container off the back. Make sure there are no low-hanging wires, tight turns, or narrow gates the truck can't clear. A minimum of 12 feet wide and 14 feet of overhead clearance.
Know your placement. Decide exactly where the container goes before the truck arrives. Once it's on the ground, moving it requires equipment. Think about door access — you'll want the doors facing the direction you'll approach from most often.
Someone on site. An adult needs to be present to confirm placement and sign for delivery. This is also when you'll do a walk-around inspection of the container.
Supports (optional but recommended). Placing railroad ties, concrete blocks, or treated lumber under the four corners keeps the container off the ground, improves drainage underneath, and helps keep the floor dry for years. Not required, but we recommend it.

Watch Out For Soft Ground

This is the most common delivery issue in Idaho, especially on rural properties and during spring thaw. If your site has been wet recently or the ground is soft, let us know ahead of time. We may need to reschedule to avoid getting the truck stuck or having the container sink into the soil. Laying down gravel or road base in advance solves this completely.

The Delivery Process Step by Step

Choose your container and request a quote

Browse our inventory, select a container, and submit a quote request. We'll confirm availability, finalize pricing, and collect delivery details including your exact placement location.

Schedule delivery

Once payment is confirmed, we schedule delivery — typically within 3–7 business days depending on depot pickup timing and route scheduling. We'll give you a delivery window and the driver will call ahead with an ETA.

Container arrives

The driver backs the tilt-bed trailer into position and slides the container off onto your prepared surface. The whole unloading process takes about 10–15 minutes. You'll walk around the container with the driver to confirm condition.

You're set

The container is yours. Lock it up, load it up, or start your project. If anything isn't right, call us — we stand behind every sale.

💰 Payment on Delivery — Not Upfront

We don't require full payment before your container ships. Payment is due on delivery, after you've inspected the container and approved it in person. In some cases a deposit may be required to cover some or all of the trucking cost, but we'll always discuss that with you upfront — no surprises.
